Freedom Preacher Roommates Forum
Keep the conversation going
A practical place to discuss roommate trouble, shared living, and possible ways forward.
The Freedom Preacher Roommates Forum is a place to keep working with the ideas in Of Course You Are Having Roommate Trouble—and to discuss the everyday realities of sharing a home with other people.
You can explore questions raised in the book, discuss articles and excerpts, compare practical experiences, bring a current concern, or learn from people who are also trying to make shared living more workable.
The Forum is not built around pretending that every roommate situation can be fixed. It is a place to think more clearly, speak more honestly, and consider what may help when a better path is still possible.

A place to keep working with the ideas
A book can introduce a useful way of seeing a problem. But putting that way of seeing into practice is harder—especially when you are tired, angry, worried about money, disappointed by someone, or simply used to reacting in the same old way.
The Forum exists because most people do better with some combination of practice, reminders, honest questions, and the chance to learn from other people’s attempts. A thoughtful discussion can help you notice an assumption, consider a different response, recognize a pattern before it gets worse, or see that a difficult situation may call for a clearer boundary rather than another argument.
You do not need to agree with every idea in the book. You do not need to reveal private details. But the Forum asks participants to be willing to think seriously about what is happening and what they may be bringing into it.
What you can explore here
The Forum will grow over time. These are the kinds of conversations it is being built to support.

How to be a good forum member
(Much like being a good roommate)
1.
Address ideas and situations without attacking people.
It’s not who is right — it’s what is right.
2.
Protect your own privacy and other people’s private information.
What happens in the forum stays in the forum.
3.
Be honest about what happened, including your own part.
If it happened, it happened. The truth is never your enemy.
4.
No excuse abuse, threats, intimidation, or unsafe behavior.
Period.
5.
Leave room for disagreement, questions, and changing your mind.
Open minds and open parachutes work best.
Start where you are
You may want to read first. You may have a question from the book, be dealing with a current roommate problem, or be trying to understand a past experience.
The next useful step may be as simple as reading one discussion, asking one honest question, or considering one idea you had not considered before.
