Our world is broken. Don’t let it break you.

Roommate trouble is not inevitable.

See how anger, worry, and a toxic culture make ordinary roommate problems worse — and what you can do about it.

Why this approach is different

A lot of roommate advice starts too late. It tries to fix the argument after the deeper trouble has already taken hold.

My approach begins with the anger, worry, bad examples, and social damage that people often bring into shared living without fully realizing it. When roommates start seeing each other as the enemy, ordinary problems can get worse fast.

There is a better way. Roommates will usually do better as allies than as enemies. We cannot fix society or change the past, but we can reduce their effect on everyday living and improve the chances of getting along.

No excuses

Understanding where conflict comes from is not the same as excusing it. No one should have to accept abuse, intimidation, repeated dishonesty, threats, or a living situation that is genuinely unsafe.

The point is not to tell people to put up with bad behavior. It is to help them see the situation more clearly, respond more effectively, and avoid turning ordinary conflict into an endless war whenever a better path is still possible.

About the Freedom Preacher

The Freedom Preacher is my name for a role I have been growing into for years: someone who is passionate about reducing unnecessary conflict and suffering in a world that often pushes in the opposite direction.

I am highly critical of the way our society works, but I am not building a political movement and I am not calling for revolution. My concern is the part we feel every day: the tilted playing field, the constant pressure, and the way that pressure can turn roommates, coworkers, family members, and strangers into apparent enemies.

My message is simple, but not always easy: Most of that anger is a signal that something larger is wrong, and it can be understood without turning against the people closest to us. We cannot repair everything at once, but we can change how we deal with each other — and that is where the Freedom Preacher’s work begins.
